Lift mood and win teddy bears in free prize draw:

Fife Trust promotes mental health to local shoppers

Shoppers across Fife gained advice and information on mental health issues at displays held across the Kingdom by Fife Employment Access Trust [FEAT].

The FEAT team spent three Mondays in January in the Kingdom Centre, Glenrothes; Kingsgate Centre, Dunfermline and The Mercat in Kirkcaldy.

In addition to highlighting the work of Fife Employment Access Trust and promoting mental health generally, three Fife MSPs also visited the mobile display to offer their support and discuss various issues.

FEAT manager, Sallie Anderson, said, “January is always a time for people to make resolutions and fresh starts, but it can also be a challenging time as many people feel low after the holiday period has finished. Our mental health and wellbeing is every bit as important as our physical health, and that’s part of the message we wanted to get across to the general public.”

A free prize draw ran throughout each day, with teddy bears up–for–grabs. Bob Porteous from Connect 2 Promotions, a keen supporter of FEAT, donated the bears for the prize draw, including 'Ferdinand' the giant bear. Ferdinand will 'tour' with the FEAT team throughout a range of events during the year, with further shopping centre displays and a host of other events.

FEAT provides a range of support for people with mental health needs to return to work, work closely with employers to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace and delivered public awareness–raising events with funding from the Big Lottery.
