Further 250,000 job opportunities to follow:
Numbers in employment and those claiming benefits
New Department for Work and Pensions figures show employment is just over 29,000,000, the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance is down by nearly 13,000 and the number of vacancies stand at 669,000.
Over 100 major employers have committed to the Government's Local Employment Partnerships scheme. Working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to fast track long–term benefit claimants into work, employers will provide a further 250,000 opportunities for people who have previously faced difficulties finding work.
