Work is good for health, report: Projects to improve occupational health for business
To improve the physical, mental and social well being of their employees, businesses in six areas across England are to receive better advice and support from the NHS. Six new demonstration projects located in Merseyside, East London, West Yorkshire, the North East and Worcestershire will share £11 million to provide better quality occupational health services for local business. This follows the report, Working for a Healthier Tomorrow which showed that work can be good for health. The schemes should pave–the–way for other NHS trusts to develop their own occupational health services to be more effective for the benefit of the wider business community. Funds for the project will be managed by NHS Plus, a network of NHS Occupational Health departments across England that supply services to non–NHS employees.
