Healthcare Commission’s report: Cornwall NHS Trust taken out of special measures
Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust has made substantial progress in its efforts to address failures in its services for people with learning disabilities, according to the Healthcare Commission’s recent progress report. The Trust has been lifted out of special measures, imposed since 2006, by the Health Secretary on advice from the Healthcare Commission, which says that the improvements must now be sustained in areas which range from record keeping to further involvement of service users. The report found that the Trust has put in place the foundations to ensure that the service meets best practice and, in particular, has begun to design services around the needs of and choices of individuals. However, it cautioned that there is still much work to do by all concerned in Cornwall to ensure that people with learning disabilities always get safe, modern services to meet the standards of best practice.
