Cambridgeshire County Council: Increased expenditure on older people and children
Almost £315 million is to be spent on services for older people and children by Cambridgeshire County Council from next year, up from £292 million in the current year. In addition, schools across the county will receive a further £295 million of ring fenced funding. The authority has decided to embark on an efficiency and cost–saving programme in order to provide a cash increase of £7.6 million for older people and a further £6 million for services for children and young people, which are priority areas for Cambridgeshire. There will, however, be an increase in council tax by 90p a week extra for an average property to bridge the funding gap.
