Teversham garden centre and shop: Mayor of Cambridge visits Trust’s Darwin Nurseries
The Mayor of Cambridge, Jenny Bailey, made a special visit to Darwin Nurseries at Teversham recently to see some of the work being carried out by people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Darwin Nurseries, in Newmarket Road, is part of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. It comprises a garden centre and shop and provides opportunities for people with both learning disabilities and mental health needs to be involved in all aspects of growing plants and selling them to the public. During her visit, Councillor Bailey saw the nurseries' volunteers hard at work preparing some of the 600 hanging baskets the organisation sells throughout May and June. The picture shows Mayor Jenny Bailey, second from left, and Trust chair Anne Campbell, fourth from left, chatting to some of the service users at Darwin Nurseries preparing hanging baskets.
