Additional £1.54 million:
More cash for breaks for disabled children’s families
One million pounds was originally provided to help disabled children and their families to enjoy short breaks this year. This has been increased by a further £1.54 million from the Welsh Assembly Government through CYMORTH.
The extra money is being made available to local authorities to advance the access to, and development of play and leisure services for disabled children and young people.
A spokesperson for the WLGA Social Services welcomed the announcement, saying that local government was committed to providing a responsive service to disabled children, young people and their families. The provision of short breaks is an integral part of service delivery providing much needed respite and care.
