Scottish Social Networks:
Training aid for staff working with vulnerable people
Scottish Social Networks [SSN] has launched a new training pack for specialist organisations and individuals working with people who are vulnerable and socially excluded.
The training pack, which will be distributed throughout Scotland, has been developed by professionals in the social care field. It will be used to train frontline staff and volunteers to encourage their clients to develop positive social networks and help them move away from dependency on services.
The pack has been developed for SSN, by The Rock Trust in collaboration with partners from Scottish Mentoring Network, Befriending Network [Scotland] Ltd, Family Mediation Scotland, SAMH, Scottish Council Single Homeless and Edinburgh City Council. The training tool has been funded by The Scottish Executive.
The SSN training pack will be used by a broad range of organisations working with a variety of client groups including the elderly, young people, ethnic minorities, homeless and disabled. It is also a key aid when working to improve mental health and wellbeing.
For more information or to order the SSN training pack, telephone: 0131 524 9869. Email: info@scottishsocialnetworks.org.
